Artis Turba is a centralized cryptocurrency exchange (CEX) based out of Centurion, South Africa. This platform was established in 2018 and it aimed to allow users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies using the South African native currency ZAR. The Artis Turba crypto exchange also aimed to simplify trading by providing users with an intuitive UI and accurate market algorithms.
The Artis Turba cryptocurrency exchange required users to comply with AML procedures by following the KYC process upon signing up. The countries that cannot use the exchange were not indicated on their website. Besides, Artis Turba crypto exchange was compatible with all desktop and mobile web browsers.
However, in January 2022, Artis Turba closed down its operations indefinitely and announced it via email to its users.
Markets
The Artis Turba cryptocurrency exchange allowed users to trade both crypto-crypto and crypto-fiat pairs on the platform. This platform was compatible with all major crypto assets, including BTC, ETH, and BNB. However, the Artis Turba trading pairs didn't come with any margin or leverage facilities.
The Artis Turba exchange fees followed the maker-taker model. Artis Turba charged 0.15% to takers and gave 0.10% to makers on the cryptocurrency exchange. While they didn’t charge any fees on deposits, they did charge for making withdrawals. For every BTC withdrawal, users were charged 0.0005 BTC. This was slightly below the industry average, like all other Artis Turba crypto fees.
ARTIS was the native token of the Artis Turba exchange. This token allowed users to obtain discounts on Artis Turba exchange fees.
Other Services
The ARTIS Affiliate Reward Program, or AARP, allowed users to receive rewards for every individual that they referred to the platform. The individual would have to sign up using your referral code and perform a certain amount of transactions on the platform so you both could be eligible to receive the rewards. The platform also rewarded ARTIS holders by sharing revenue generated on the exchange pro rata to the ARTIS that they held.
About the Company
Artis Turba was a South African-based cryptocurrency exchange that was founded in 2018. This exchange aimed to allow users to perform crypto transactions using the native South African currency ZAR. The exchange was founded by Nigel Peacock and Nickey Oosthuizen, who were also both CEOs of the platform for about five years.
The Artis Turba crypto exchange was able to stay out of controversies for the majority of its tenure. However, it did face a hiccup with OctaFX when the latter stopped processing user withdrawals without giving any former notice. Artis Turba was able to reach out to OctaFX to track and seize all the tokens on the platform. They also provided users with the ability to recover their tokens if they were able to provide proof of ownership.
Nevertheless, as mentioned before, Artis Turba abruptly ceased operations in January 2022.
