Thanks to Ogvio's smart contract-based architecture, your transfers will not only be cheap but quick and smooth, as well: you can expect most payments to go through in seconds. With the help of advanced 256-bit AES encryption, biometric security, and on-chain funds storage, Ogvio will keep your money safe from cyber attacks or other issues.
Ogvio supports 40+ fiat currencies, but one of its selling features is the option to automatically convert them to USD or EUR. This is meant as a hedge against inflation - instead of storing your money in more volatile local currencies, you can simply convert them back anytime you want.

If you're a crypto fan, you're in luck, too. Ogvio will support storing and trading cryptocurrencies on the Base network with no fees. Among its list of 7,000+ supported banks and wallets worldwide, you'll find Ledger, Binance, Kraken, and Coinbase integrations.
Last but not least, Ogvio comes with some attractive extra features. You can use it to split the bill with friends or pay your family members' utility bills abroad, for example. What's more, it's going to feature a generous referral system with bonuses, so if you're the early bird type, sign up for the waitlist to find out more!

When it comes to the top-up options, you can choose between a credit or debit card or a bank transfer, as well as crypto wallets. Krak imposes a weekly transfer limit of $15,000 (for both fiat and crypto combined), which will probably be more than enough for most casual senders.
Krak's DM system is great for requesting money, too. You can generate a payment request link that can be pasted not just in the chat but anywhere else you'd like.

In line with its parent company, Kraken (one of the most popular crypto exchanges worldwide), Krak safeguards users' funds with a Proof-of-Reserves, alongside advanced encryption and multisignature authentication.
The KrakBacks rewards system essentially works as a lottery wheel that gets spun every time you make a payment to a friend, with a chance to win crypto rewards. You might get surprise stablecoins, meme coins, or even the most popular assets like SOL or BNB.
3. Remitly - Local Bank Integrations & Fee Refunds for Delays
Ranks #3 out of 8 Money Transfer Services
- + Great platform accessibility
- + 170+ receiving countries
- + Home delivery available
- + Major and local payout options
- - Escalating FX rates
- - Confusing fees
If you're trying to transfer money to Thailand, bank account support will, no doubt, be a priority when sending to someone who doesn't use any P2P apps. This is where Remitly enters the picture. With its free first transfer policy, 100% fee refunds on delayed payments, and a wide range of payment options, it's one of the most cost-friendly platforms.
Remitly | |
|---|---|
Fees | $1.99 per transfer |
Supported Countries | 170+ countries |
Supported Currencies | 100+ currencies |
Transfer Speed | Varies depending on the payment method |
Payment Methods | Credit/debit card, bank transfer, Apple Pay, Klarna, iDEAL |

The fee for sending 100 AUD and converting them to THB is 2.99 AUD - but if you're transferring for the first time, you get a 100% discount!

Remitly supports seven major Thai banks in total, including Bangkok Bank, Siam Commercial Bank, and Krung Thai Bank. You can pay with a credit or debit card, Apple Pay, Klarna, or IDEAL (if it's available in your country), and your recipient can pick it up through their own bank account or have it delivered in cash by a courier.
This platform offers two types of delivery: Economy or Express. As the names suggest, the first one is slower but more affordable, while the other is the faster yet pricier option. Remitly doesn't promise any specific transfer fees, but if your payment gets delayed for an unreasonable amount of time, you'll be able to get a 100% refund on your fees.

Remitly's transfer limits are pretty generous, too. The maximum amount for a single transfer is $100,000, so you're unlikely to have to split your payments.
This platform monitors all transactions and suspicious activity and offers all the standard security measures, including 2FA and Secure Socket Layer (SSL) with 256-bit encryption. You can also track your transactions on the web or mobile app and set up email or SMS notifications.

However, transferring an equivalent of 25,000 USD or more within a month makes you eligible for a discount, so a 25,000 GBP transfer would cost 148.04 GBP (6.34 GBP less than the full fee), reducing your fee from 0.59% to 0.57%.
What's more, if you sign up for Wise using a referral link, you get to enjoy your first transfer for free, as long as it's under 500 USD and initiated within the first 6 months of signing up.

Wise supports a wide range of payment methods, including a credit or debit card, direct debit, bank transfer, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Transfer limits depend on the bank: in this case, you can send up to 2 million THB to Kasikorn Bank and Bangkok Bank, 1.49 million THB to Siam Commercial Bank, and 500,000 THB to other banks.
Finally, let me tell you about another neat feature that gives this platform an edge over many competitors. Let's say you're sending money from Canada to Thailand and the CAD/THB exchange rate happens to be really competitive right now, but you're not ready to make the transaction just yet. What you can do is lock it in for up to 48 hours and come back to it later!

Ranks #5 out of 8 Money Transfer Services

When it comes to transfers outside the PayPal ecosystem, the platform's model is pretty simple: the fees only involve currency conversion, which means that domestic transfers are still free, while international transfers involve a 5% fee.
PayPal features a two-tier transfer limit system. Unverified users are only allowed up to $4,000 per transfer, but as soon as you pass the identity verification, the limit increases to $60,000.

This app offers the standard range of payment methods. You can fund your transaction with a credit or debit card or a bank transfer, or simply use your PayPal balance. Downloading Xoom, an additional PayPal service, opens up a lot more delivery options, such as cash pickups.
While international transfers work just fine even if your recipients don't have a PayPal account, free transfers aren't the only advantage of getting your family and friends into the ecosystem. This way, you can enjoy extra features like splitting the bill, pooling money with your friends for gifts, or paying your family's bills abroad.
6. WorldRemit - Minimalist Approach to Money Transfers
Ranks #6 out of 8 Money Transfer Services
- + Wide global coverage
- + Multiple delivery options
- + Fast transfer speeds

If you're looking for a simple international money transfer app that gets straight to the point with no bells and whistles, WorldRemit is a solid alternative. This platform supports sending money to over 130 countries in 70+ currencies for a reasonable fee.
WorldRemit | |
|---|---|
Fees | Free (from Australia or the UK) 0.99-1.99 USD from other countries |

Other Features | Airtime top-up |
Table: Overview of WorldRemit features
WorldRemit might not be the number one cheapest way to send money to Thailand (compared to P2P apps like Ogvio, at least), but its fees are still competitively low. For example, if you want to transfer money from Australia to Thailand, you won't be charged anything at all! The same goes for transfers from the UK.

Unfortunately, transfers from most other countries involve a fee, but the most you'll have to pay is up to 1.99 USD per transfer.
WorldRemit is a remittance platform and not a P2P app, so when trying to transfer money to Thailand, a bank account will be necessary. You can choose to pay with a bank transfer or a credit or debit card. However, transfers to Thailand only come with one option to receive the money - a bank transfer.

This platform's transfer limits depend on the country and the currency involved. When it comes to Thailand, you're allowed to transfer up to $30,000 in one go.
As I mentioned earlier, WorldRemit is pretty minimalist feature-wise, but it still has one neat perk: airtime top-ups. You can use this platform to instantly add credit to prepaid phones in most of the supported countries, including Thailand.
7. Western Union - Wide Range of Payment & Pickup Methods
Ranks #7 out of 8 Money Transfer Services
- + An established money transfer service
- + Available in most countries
- + Multiple delivery types, including cash pickup
- + Various ways to fund a transfer
- - High fees and exchange rate markup
- - Outdated app interface
- - Doesn't allow long-term fund storage
Western Union holds the title of the world's first money transfer service - and more than 154 years later, many loyal users still regard it as the best way to send money to Thailand or 200+ other countries and regions.

If you're a first-time user, you're in luck: you'll be able to make your first transfer for free! The cost of your next transfer will depend on your payment method. Let's say you're sending 100 USD from the US to Thailand. If you're paying with a bank transfer and your recipient gets the money to their Visa debit card, the fee will be zero.

On the other hand, if you're paying with a credit card or in-store, it will cost you 8-8.99 USD. All the other payment and pickup methods are somewhere in between this range. The recipient is just as spoiled for choice: Western Union offers a whopping 150 cash pickup locations in Thailand, both in major cities and smaller towns.
What about transfer limits, you'll probably ask next? Here's how they work. If you're an unverified user, you're only allowed to send up to 1,000 USD in a single transfer, but verifying your account increases the ceiling to 5,000 USD.

Aside from identity verification, Western Union features a number of other security measures, such as TLS (Transport Layer Security), SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certification, end-to-end encryption, and multi-factor authentication. Naturally, you can also track your transfers and set up email notifications to get alerted when they arrive.
And if you need any additional features, this platform has got you covered, too. Western Union supports transaction scheduling, bill payments for family members, and even sending money to inmates.

Those fees might seem a bit high at first glance, but here's a trick. Enrolling in MoneyGram’s loyalty program gives you a 20% discount on your second transfer’s fees and a 40% discount on the fees of every fifth transfer, along with other member-only offers and promotions.
Supported payment and pickup methods depend on the countries involved. In the case of sending from the US to Thailand, for example, you can fund your transfer with a credit or debit card or by cash at location, while your recipient can pick it up through a bank transfer, have it delivered directly to their credit or debit card, or receive it in cash.

The latter option is a bit of a hit or miss, though, since MoneyGram only has 5 pickup locations in Thailand.
Aside from these features, MoneyGram also supports utility bill payments for family members abroad or topping up their mobile phone data across 600+ supported mobile networks worldwide.
How to Choose the Best App to Send Money to Thailand
I've shown you my top picks in the first section of this guide - but how do you actually choose the best way to send money to Thailand for you? Here are the main factors you should consider:
1
P2P VS Bank or Card Transfers. If the person you're sending money to already uses some P2P money transfer app or is willing to sign up for one, you'll get the benefit of free and instant transfers.
2
Payment Methods. Would you rather fund your transfer with your credit or debit card, a bank transfer, Apple Pay, or something else? Consider what options the app in question supports.
3
Pickup Methods. Similarly, ask your recipient how they'd prefer to pick up their money and make sure the app supports this method.
4
Options for Different Transfer Purposes. Are you transferring money as a gift, a bill payment, pooling money together, or something else? Check if the app you're considering has the features that suit different transfer purposes.

5
Discounts & Rewards. If you're planning on becoming a regular user, you could save a lot of money if the app you chose offered discounts on large or frequent transfers, or had any kind of loyalty rewards program.
6
Advanced Features. Consider whether you'll need features like transaction scheduling or locking in the exchange rate.
7
Security. Check if the app you're looking into has all the standard security measures, such as identify verification, 2FA, advanced encryption, and transfer limits.
8
Customer Support. Even the most reliable apps aren't 100% issue-free. Make sure the app has solid customer support in case your transfer goes missing.
That's about it! Run this checklist through any money transfer service you're considering (whether or not it's included in my list) and distill your priorities so that you can settle on the app that actually serves your needs instead of just being perfect on paper.
What Should You Know About Sending Money to Thailand? Key Considerations
Once you've found your perfect app, don't rush to make your first transaction just yet! I have a few more useful tips for you. If you've never sent money to Thailand before, here's what you should know before you begin.

First of all, be mindful of all the costs of your transfer. Hidden fees can really creep up on you and make you waste as much as $150 per year.[1] Thankfully, most money transfer apps feature comprehensive fee calculators, but you'll often have to click on the fee section to get the full breakdown on what they entail.
Currency exchange rate is another factor that many users forget to take into account. What's tricky is that it fluctuates all the time, so even if you nail down the perfect rate, if you come back the next day, you might find it's already slipped to something much less favorable. That's where the exchange rate lock-in feature can really come in handy.

Taxes are another unforeseen hurdle. Here's what they boil down to:
- Assets received from parents, children, or spouses are tax-free if the amount is under 20 million THB.
- If the amount exceeds 20 million TBH, the transfer is subject to a 5% tax.
- Assets received from unrelated persons are tax-free if they're under 10 million THB.
- If the amount exceeds 10 million THB, the transfer has a tax rate of 5%.
In other words, if you're making a large transfer (for reference, 10,000 TBH is around 304 USD), be prepared to top it up to make up for the taxes.
If you're trying to transfer money to Thailand, a bank account will probably be a necessity (unless you're using a P2P app). Before paying with a bank transfer, make sure to get your recipient's full details in order. For an international wire transfer through SWIFT, you're going to need their full name, IBAN (account number), and SWIFT code (their bank's international identifier).

Finally, keep in mind that, even if the app promises quick transactions, if it involves a credit/debit card or a bank transfer, you might run into delays. If that happens, don't panic! There are plenty of common reasons for your payment to get held up:
1
Missed Cut-Off Times. If you made a payment too late in the day, your transaction would only be processed the next business day at the earliest.
2
Bank Holidays. Most banks don’t operate during the national or bank holidays, so make sure you haven’t accidentally made your transaction the day before or during.
3
Intermediary Bank Routing. If it’s an international wire transfer, your transaction might be held up in any of the intermediary banks.

4
Network or System Outages. In rare cases, you might have been unlucky enough to make a transaction during a maintenance outage or downtime because of a cyber attack.[2]
5
Compliance Reviews. Large or unusual payments are more likely to get flagged by the bank’s AML compliance checks.
If you’ve accounted for all of the above, but your transaction still hasn’t arrived in more than 4-5 business days, that’s when it’s time to take action and contact your bank’s customer support.
Most banks have a ticket request system where you can select your issue from a drop-down list and describe your problem in detail.
Make sure to include all the relevant details, such as the date and time you sent the transaction, the transaction’s reference ID, the amount and currency, and the confirmation screenshot.
