Where Does Stellar Lumens Stand Today? XLM Market Analysis

Since its launch in 2014, Stellar has been through a bumpy ride. It didn't see much growth during the first three years, hitting the all-time low of $0.001227 on November 18, 2014, and only had one relatively small peak of $0.005774 at the end of December that same year. All in all - not great, not terrible.
It wasn't until 2017 that XLM's fortunes turned around, and the token was able to flip the trend with an impressive rally to $0.0554 by the end of May: a whopping 1050.33% gain from the $0.004816 price at the start of the month. During that period, Stellar's daily trading volume rose from $3.24 million to $33.63 million, while the market cap surged from $604 million to over $10 billion.
This point became the new price floor for XLM, and since then, the token has seen four more major price peaks. The January 2018 bull run marked its all-time high of $0.9381, while in May 2021, the price reached $0.7331, and the December 2024 spike brought it to $0.5093. In between, XLM hovered around $0.1.
Even after the price of Stellar fell again during the first half of 2025, it never dipped below $0.2261, and rose again in July. As of writing this, XLM costs $0.3970 (a 357.3% gain this year), with a market cap of $12.4 billion and a daily trading volume of $448.18 million. It has a circulating supply of 31.24 billion tokens, which is 62.48% of the total supply of 50 billion tokens.
So, can Stellar Lumens reach $1 based on these numbers alone? Given the fact that its current price is only ~40% away from said milestone, and the all-time high was already close enough to $1, it's definitely not an impossible feat! And the crypto community seems to agree: as of July 8, 2025, the community sentiment is decidedly bullish at 86% positive.
Will Stellar Lumens Reach $1? The Ultimate Lowdown
Just in case this sounded too much like a ringing endorsement, I'll hit the brakes here: past performance is by no means a guaranteed indicator of future success. Will Stellar Lumens reach $1 just because it almost got there at one point?
We can never know for sure, but a number of reliable market analysts have already come out with their own predictions, many of which point to quite significant growth for our token in question! Let's take a look at some of these forecasts and see where Stellar is headed.

Table: Stellar Lumens price prediction August 2025.
As you can see, all three analysts' predictions aren't all that different from each other, and no matter which one you choose to go by, the answer to the question, "Will Stellar Lumens hit $1 in August 2025?" is a resounding "No". Only CoinCodex sees the XLM price surpass the $0.5 bump by the end of the month, which would still have it stuck halfway from the one-dollar price point.
The overall consensus is pretty clear, though. Stellar will see some very modest growth of 7.57% to 11.5% - not exactly a flight to the moon, but still reasonably promising for such a short period of time.
What about the rest of 2025, you might ask? Luckily, more analysts have weighed in on this one, giving us their best technical analysis (with a dash of educated guesses). Will Stellar Lumens reach $1 by the end of the year? Here's what the numbers say:

This is where the different sources start to diverge a lot more. Changelly's forecast takes a more pessimistic turn, predicting that the XLM price might end up falling as far down as $0.276 by the end of the year (this would see the token losing a third of its value compared to the current price), and its best-case scenario still only sees a relatively humble 24.94% gain.
On the other end of the spectrum, DigitalCoinPrice sets the floor at $0.34 (pretty close to the current price) but paints a much more optimistic end-of-the-year picture, claiming that Stellar could rise all the way up to $0.83. That would mean a 109.07% gain for those who invested today - and, more importantly, a massive leap towards the $1 milestone!
CoinCodex and CryptoPredictions.com fall in between, predicting a minimum of ~$0.49 to ~0.46 and a potential rise to ~$0.54 or ~$0.69, respectively.
Medium-Term XLM Price Prediction (2026 – 2030)
If Stellar's price prospects foresee stable growth over the next few months, it's probably safe to ask not if but when will Stellar Lumens hit $1? To that end, let's take a look at the predictions for this decade:

Table: Stellar Lumens price prediction 2030.
Each of the above-mentioned prices is the January price for that year, with the exception of CoinPedia, which provided a single average price point for every year.
All five sources agree on one thing: the second half of the 2020s will definitely see Stellar hit $1! The only question is when, exactly. If we're looking at the most conservative scenario, DigitalCoinPrice and CoinPedia seem the most optimistic, both predicting that XLM will cost over $1 as early as 2027. Changelly, on the other hand, doesn't see it happening until 2028, and CoinCodex lags behind with its $1 XLM prediction of 2030.
This is just the minimum price forecast, though - according to the more rosy hypothetical turn of events, XLM might even hit $1 by 2026, according to CoinPedia, and three out of four analysts believe it could get there by 2028.
If anything, the $1 milestone might be lowballing it: most of these analysts see Stellar having the potential to surge much higher than that! CoinPedia comes out with the boldest prediction, setting the maximum 2030 price point at $6.19, while Changelly and DigitalCoinPrice foresee XLM surpassing the $2 mark by the end of the decade.
So, what sort of gains are we talking about here? Definitely much bigger ones than the short-term scenario, that's for sure! Even if Stellar only got as far as the most pessimistic minimum price prediction ($1.157092 by CoinCodex), those who invested today would end up with a return of almost 200% by 2030! And if CoinPedia's maximum price forecast came true and Stellar ended up at $6.19, the lucky traders who got in by now would enjoy 1459.19% gains.
Long-Term XLM Price Prediction (2030 - 2040)
Once you zoom out into the macro-scale, price predictions start to get really hazy - so much so that calling them "predictions" might be a stretch. Still, this level of challenge isn't nearly enough to stop avid investors from asking, "Can Stellar Lumens reach $1 in 2040?". Just in case the medium-term predictions don't pan out, it's worth speculating how much XLM might cost in the upcoming decades.
Once again, here are the top-rated crypto market analysts coming to the rescue. According to Changelly's vision, Stellar would start the year 2040 at the average price of $36.05 and end it within a range of $248.85 and $313.05 (the average price being $270.25). Even the average price scenario would still have today's investors scooping up a 67973.05% return.
This might all feel a bit abstract, so let me give you a more concrete example. Let's say you bought 100 XLM tokens for the current price of $0.3970. If you managed to HODL them all the way until 2040, by the end of that year, your initial $39.70 investment would be worth $27,025!
Still, it's probably a bit too soon to get carried away. Most other sources don't offer any XLM price predictions beyond 2034. CoinCodex, for one, doesn't see the Stellar price rising above $3.08 even with the most optimistic 2040 price forecast, in which case, going with the previous 100 XLM tokens at $0.3970 scenario, you'd end up with a profit of $308.
Let me highlight that the 2040 price of $3 would actually be a downgrade by the standards of CoinPedia's average and maximum price scenarios for 2030. For all we know, XLM price could see a few major plunges throughout the years, and at one point, we might have to ask, "When will Stellar Lumens hit $1 again?".
Key Factors That Affect Stellar Lumens Price
Knowing where to find the best Stellar price predictions is all well and good - but, as I pointed out, these predictions aren't exactly set in stone. To understand how much XLM is likely to cost three months, three years, or even a few decades from now, you'll need to come to grips with the main factors that influence its price movement:
- Time;
- Tokenomics;
- Liquidity
- Community;
- Protocol development;
- Market volatility;
- Crypto regulations.
The one thing Stellar Lumens definitely has going for it, compared to many alternatives, is its track record. Launched in 2014, it's one of the older surviving tokens out there. Given the fact that 91% of the tokens created in 2014 eventually disappeared due to low trading volume or abandonment, XLM still kicking along is impressive enough, and already a strong predictor for future growth.
Many cryptocurrencies that aren't meme coins have a tendency to increase in price over time (at least if they survive the initial post-launch sell-off period). Bitcoin, the most valuable cryptocurrency to date, certainly didn't reach the $100,000 milestone overnight! As I highlighted in the first section, XLM has had several major peaks and dips, but each rally has a chance of raising the price floor in the long term.
Next up, let's talk about the tokenomics. Stellar Lumens has a maximum supply of 50 billion tokens, which seems pretty massive at first glance, but is actually comparable to a number of other respected and successful tokens. For reference, the maximum supply of ADA is 45 billion tokens, while XRP has a maximum supply of 100 billion.
📚 Check Out: Stellar VS Ripple: What's The Better Choice?
In fact, Stellar did originally launch with the supply of 100 billion tokens, but in 2019, the company burned about 50% of the supply in an effort to increase the token's value through scarcity and adopted a fixed-supply model (followed by Bitcoin and certain other assets, such as gold).[1] No new XLM tokens will be created, meaning that Stellar will become deflationary over time.
A small amount of XLM is burned for every transaction (about 0.00001 XLM), which slightly reduces the supply over time.
Since Stellar Lumens is quite old at this point, it's probably no surprise that it's already found its way into most of the major crypto exchanges, but still, this factor alone brings a major liquidity boost and exposure that contributes to a price increase. As of writing this, you can buy XLM on Binance, Kraken, Bybit, Coinbase, KuCoin, MEXC, and many other top crypto exchanges. If you're wondering, "Will Stellar Lumens reach $1?", these platforms will definitely play a role in helping our token in question get there.
📚 Check Out: How to Buy Stellar Lumens
Still, none of this would mean much if Stellar Lumens didn't have a community of users willing to buy and trade this token. Stellar has 838,800 members on its official X account and 23,433 Discord members. However, these numbers haven't increased much throughout the 2020s, and according to some experts, the current rally might be short-lived and wouldn't meaningfully contribute to the token's popularity.
Despite its age, though, Stellar Lumens hasn't been resting on its laurels lately. At the end of the day, every crypto project has to keep moving forward to retain users, and our blockchain in question has come out with quite a few significant upgrades in the past few years:
- Visa Integration. Stellar has been integrated into Visa’s payment and stablecoin infrastructure, enabling support for stablecoin transactions on the Stellar network. PayPal has also revealed plans to integrate its stablecoin PYUSD into the Stellar Network.
- Protocol 23 Upgrade. Coming out in August 2025, Stellar's Protocol 23 introduces enhanced smart contract capabilities, improved scalability, and broader Web3 integration.
- SOC Type 2 Certificate. In 2023, Stellar successfully completed the SOC 2 assessment to improve its data security.
When it comes to the question of "Will Stellar Lumens reach $1?", it's impossible to ignore the factor of crypto market volatility. Cryptocurrencies are susceptible to wild fluctuations caused by changing regulations, liquidity issues, technical issues, market sentiment, and major news ("shocks").[2] XLM itself experienced several such swings over the years, so even if it's currently hanging halfway across the $1 milestone, there's always a chance it could plummet back to $0.1 or even lower.
Last but not least, XLM price isn't immune to being influenced by global crypto regulations. Many investors tend to prefer regulatory certainty (as long as the regulations aren't too limiting), but in recent years, the regulatory landscape for crypto has been anything but stable - or consistent across different regions, for that matter.
The US has been on a more neoliberal streak since the 2024 election. As of writing this, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has formally dismissed eight lawsuits against a number of crypto exchanges, and the administration has just passed an executive order that would allow employees to include cryptocurrency in their retirement accounts.
EU, on the other hand, is pivoting in the other direction: the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulatory framework, passed in 2024, has banned a number of stablecoins, including USDT, and established a much higher bar for the creation and listing of new crypto tokens. However, this turned out to be good news for the Euro-based stablecoins, such as EURT, which was launched on the Stellar blockchain back in 2017.

What is Stellar Lumens? A Brief Overview
Stellar is an open-source blockchain network created in 2014 by Jed McCaleb (a co-founder of Ripple) and the Stellar Development Foundation (SDF). It was designed to support fast, secure, and cost-effective cross-border payments, and features a unique proof-of-agreement (PoA) consensus mechanism called the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP).
Instead of using cryptographic puzzles, SCP secures the network through a system of validator nodes (much like Cosmos, another popular open-source blockchain network). They pool and review transactions, combine them into blocks, and review those blocks to ensure that these blocks and the transactions they contain are valid.
One of Stellar's key selling points is its cross-border payment system. Here's what this process looks like:
- Anchors (On/Off Ramps). Anchors are trusted entities like banks, fintechs, or remittance services. They hold real-world fiat currency, issue equivalent tokens on Stellar, and handle cash-out to local currency on the receiving side.
- Tokenization of Funds. When you send money, your anchor converts it into a digital token on Stellar (e.g., EURT for euros, USDC for dollars).
- Instant Transfer via Stellar Network. Tokens move across the network in 2–5 seconds with tiny fees (~$0.000001). If there’s no direct trading pair, XLM acts as a bridge currency to make the exchange.
- Conversion to Local Currency. On the other side, the receiving anchor converts the incoming token into the recipient’s local currency and delivers it (bank deposit, mobile wallet, cash pickup).
XLM is the official token of the Stellar network. Alongside its role in settling transaction fees, it's also used for the activation of new accounts (you need to have a minimum balance of 1 XLM before creating an account), and as a bridge currency on Stellar's built-in DEX. For example, if there’s no direct EURT/USDC pair, you can convert EURT to XLM and then swap it for USDC.

Conclusions
Will Stellar Lumens reach $1? The verdict is still out, but so far, most of the top-rated crypto experts agree it's likely to happen by 2030. While the XLM market trajectory has been pretty bumpy so far, there are some reasons to expect that it could maintain the ~$0.4 floor for the upcoming months and experience some stable, if modest growth, and not only break through the one-dollar ceiling but even surpass it, potentially rising as high as $6.19.
As the saying goes, though - don't count your chickens before they hatch! At the very least, don't rush to stock up on XLM based on the hypothetical gains from these predictions. As with any other token, Stellar's price could still plummet because of a variety of factors like market sentiment, dwindling community, or uncertain crypto regulations.
