Monero Classic (XMC) is an open-source cryptocurrency, based on the original Monero (XMR) chain. It is one of the many hard forks of the project. XMC was created to be ASIC friendly and with a focus on privacy and scalability.

Who Founded Monero Classic?
The original Monero project was developing throughout 2016-2017 and many mining companies started to work on manufacturing ASIC miners especially targeting Monero. Moreno's core developers decided to hard fork the blockchain to make it ASIC-resistant, however, some members of the team did not like the idea. This led to the development of Monero Classic relying on the original version in 2018, as well as other projects. A Singapore-based team was supporting an unaltered original chain, which later become Monero Classic XMC and remained ASIC-friendly till this date. The person behind Monero Classic is anonymous and was described on the project website as a Bitcoin evangelist and eco blockchain builder.
