It seems as though more and more massive players in the crypto world are moving their initiatives into virtual lands, despite the fact that bears are still reigning supreme in the crypto market.
Tony Hawk, an entrepreneur, and pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding, has recently announced that he would be joining forces with a virtual gaming world The Sandbox to create the world's biggest skatepark and a 3D avatar collection.

According to the official announcement issued on July 13th, the “never seen before” skatepark, dubbed Tony Hawk LAND, will span 36 plots of land where players will have the opportunity to build their own skateparks as they like. The official report read:
"The Sandbox will make these NFTs interoperable in its open metaverse, turning Autograph’s high-fidelity avatars into 3D voxel versions that have in-game functionality for experiences, adding utility and value for their owners."
The blockchain-based firm didn’t disclose when the virtual skatepark would eventually see the light of day.
On top of that, Autograph, a Tom Brady-backed NFT platform founded in 2021, will also jump on the initiative to create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for Hawk’s used gear and iconic skateboards, including the one that he used at the 1999 X Games to land the first ever 900 (2.5-lap) turn.
Dillon Rosenblatt, CEO of Autograph, commented on the partnership and mentioned that he is thrilled to work with The Sandbox and Tony Hawk to make "impossible experiences" possible. Likewise, COO of The Sandbox Sebastien Borget also noted the firm would be working hard to bring Hawk's vision into reality.
Hawk noted that he is very excited about the skating-based metaverse project and is looking forward to bringing his passion into the virtual world. He added:
“I have been a fan of new technology all of my life – from the first videogames and home computers with CGI capabilities.”
Even though this is Hawk's first foray into the blockchain-based gaming space, he shouldn't have any trouble involving players in the project, given that his Tony Hawk Pro Skater game has already made over $1.4B.
In fact, The Sandbox has already scored over 300 collaborations, including The Walking Dead, Adidas, Snoop Dogg, The Smurfs, Deadmau5, HSBC, Cube, WMG, and its most recent partnership with the lifestyle brand Playboy to roll out a social game, MetaMansion.
