Spotify has ntroduced a set of new measures to handle the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in music creation.
These changes aim to improve transparency regarding AI involvement in songs, reduce spam uploads, and clarify its stance on AI-generated voice copies.
A key part of the update is the company’s decision to adopt a music credit format developed by DDEX, a standards organization in the music industry.

This format allows record labels, distributors, and other partners to include details about how AI was used in making a song, such as for vocals, instruments, or editing, when they submit music.
So far, 15 music distributors and labels have agreed to support this system, and Spotify hopes that others in the industry will follow suit.
Additionally, Spotify stated that AI-created voice imitations, such as deepfakes or unauthorized copies of someone's voice, are not allowed. Any such content will be removed if found.
Spotify is also trying to stop low-effort or misleading uploads from spreading. A new spam detection system is expected to launch later this year. This tool will identify patterns such as repeated uploads, misleading keywords, or content designed to manipulate the platform’s algorithms.
Tracks that are flagged will no longer be recommended to listeners.
The spam filter will be released gradually to ensure it identifies the correct types of content. Over time, the company plans to improve the filter by including more types of signals.
