John Legend Enters the World of NFTs, Helping to Launch New Platform

The singer will be a Chief Impact Officer, working on drawing artist and their fan bases. Furthermore, the platform OurSong will allow artists to tokenize and sell their creations additionally giving their fans rewards such as access to private chatrooms and unreleased music. This could be a new chapter for pop culture enthusiasts.

Everyone can now turn stories, music, photography, and any kind of art into NFT trading cards called Vibes.

Vibes is basically a pass that unlocks exclusive updates and private chat communities. Bringing like-minded people together.

Nonetheless, there are a few artists that don’t seem to be amused by the idea. For instance, Kanye West wrote, “Do not ask me to do a f*cking NFT” in his recent Instagram post.

Speaking of those who do like the subject of NFTs, Legend spoke on a Bloomberg interview saying that he is mostly concentrated on his music, nonetheless, he wishes that the platform will be a way for people to connect:

When I think about what I want to do, I try to get involved with projects that I think will make the world more connected.

There are a few other well-known names helping with the project such as the co-founder of digital music streaming service KKBOX, Chris Lin, who will be the CEO of the project.

The co-founders didn’t provide much information about the financial details, nevertheless, Lin indicates that the platform won’t require users to have crypto wallets. Stating that:

Most celebrities are known to mint their own collection and it is rare for them to create an entire platform. However, there are exceptions such as Tom Brady, the Super Bowl champion, who launched “Autograph”, a sports-focused NFT platform.

Moreover, in May of 2021, Legend was announced as a partner of the “OneOf” NFT platform together with AURORA and Doja Cat.
