Jesse Pollak, the creator of Base, explained that the team chose to narrow the app’s scope. He said the product works better when it focuses on one clear purpose, which he described as trading.
Creator Rewards will close on February 8, and the final payments will be issued on February 18.
The change also affects the app’s integration with Farcaster. Pollak noted that Base App never fully matched what Farcaster’s talk feed was built for.
He said the dedicated Farcaster app already offers a stronger experience for that type of activity. Pollak expects users who relied on the social feed in the Base App to return to Farcaster.
This update does not impact all creator-related features. The Creator Coins program will remain available.
