What is tBTC (TBTC)?
Threshold network is a decentralized bridging protocol that merges the NuCypher and KEEP networks with a primary mission to protect user privacy on public blockchain domains. Token holders of both networks initiated the idea of the merger, and the proposal was finalized in June 2021. With the merger came a need to develop utility, staking, and governance token for the environment and the T token. Later, the network created a tokenized Bitcoin crypto asset (tBTC token) that would be permissionless and used in DeFi apps without risking privacy or censorship.
