Government of Ukraine to Launch an NFT Representing Russia's Invasion

Government of Ukraine to Launch an NFT Representing Russia's Invasion

The war-ridden country seeks to build on its previous success and raise more funds by creating an NFT representing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

With tens of millions raised for Ukraine’s efforts through cryptocurrencies, the government is looking to launch its own "commemorative" NFT collection in order to secure the event in history.

Based on a report by the Guardian, Alex Bornyakov, who is the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation in Ukraine, has made plans to make a digital asset collection which would be "like a museum of the Russian-Ukrainian war."

According to him, each NFT will hold a piece of history via a picture or artwork that represents an event during the invasion of Ukraine, captured by journalists who were and are still there during the conflict.

Interestingly enough, In an earlier Twitter post, Bornyakov published an image showing what types of supplies were purchased with the donated cryptocurrencies, suggesting that the funds were mainly used for general supplies and body armor.

At the moment, Ukraine, with the help of several other non-profit organizations and DAOs, had raised over $60 million.

Just last week, the world-renowned boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko partnered with digital artist WhIsBe and launched an NFT collection to support the war efforts in Ukraine.

At the beginning of March, UkraineDAO led a fundraising campaign by raising funds to purchase a Ukrainian flag NFT. Almost $7M was raised for the Come Back Alive organization that provides Ukrainian citizens, volunteers, and military personnel with supplies.
