Albert Saniger, the founder of a shopping app called nate, told investors it had AI that could handle online shopping from start to finish. He raised $40M off that pitch.

In reality, tho', real people in a call center in the Philippines were manually placing orders.

Now, Saniger's facing fraud charges that could land him in prison for up to 40 years.
