Mozilla Expands Perplexity AI Search to All Firefox Users

Mozilla has begun offering the artificial intelligence (AI) powered search engine Perplexity as a search option within the Firefox browser on desktop devices across the globe.

This decision follows a previous trial phase that was limited to a few countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany.

During the test period, Mozilla monitored user feedback to assess whether the tool would be useful as a regular feature. Based on the positive responses, the company has now expanded access.

Unlike traditional search engines, Perplexity provides summarized responses to questions, supported by citations from reliable sources. This format allows users to read answers directly, rather than navigating through multiple sites.

The option can be found within the address bar’s search button, which allows switching between search engines. If preferred, Pebrplexity can also be set as the default search engine through Firefox’s settings.

Mozilla has stated that the positive outcome of the Perplexity test may lead to the inclusion of other AI-based search tools in the future.

In addition to this search feature, Mozilla is also expanding access to Firefox’s browser profile system. This functionality allows different browser setups to be used for different needs, such as work, personal use, or education.

Perplexity recently released its Comet browser to the public for free. What features does it offer? Read the full story.
