Out of all the NFTs on the marketplace, one collector chose to buy a digital art piece of a trash can for $252,000 from SuperRare.
With multiple non-fungible token collections coming out each day, some even worked on by professional artists, one American artist by the name of Robness sold a plastic trash can NFT for a quarter of a million dollars.
The NFT features a glitchy image of a regular trash can, named the "64 gallon toter." When the artist himself got interviewed by AFP news, Robness told reporters that he couldn’t even remember where he found the picture of the trash can.

However, the road to listing an NFT with a trash can on it wasn’t as easy for the artist as some might think.
According to Robness, he tried to submit the trash can to the SuperRare NFT marketplace a couple of years ago, but it was rejected due to potentially "breaking copyright." Robness was surprised that SuperRare just decided to reinstate his NFT two years later.
Before the artist sold his trash can NFT, he was called by the interested collector to talk over the context and price of the digital asset. While Robness was having a jolly chat with his potential customer, the artist gave him the final price of the NFT, to which the buyer agreed.
At the moment, Robness has a whole collection of NFTs on OpenSea with glitchy, psychedelic themes. Likewise, he recently listed his last "64 gallon totter" NFT on SuperRare, for a price of 65920 ETH, which is just over $171M.
