Rapper Lil Baby Says He’d Like to get Paid in Crypto over Cash

Rapper Lil Baby Says He’d Like to get Paid in Crypto over Cash

The Atlanta-based rap artist Lil Baby told that he would much rather prefer earning cryptocurrencies over fiat money.

With multiple celebrities leaning into the digital goods that the blockchain offers, the crypto and art-based digital asset market have increased drastically over the past couple of months.  According to data, NFT sales almost tripled between January 7th and January 11th of 2022, reaching an all-time high of 325,352 sales on January 13th.

The rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, who goes by his stage name Lil Baby is a known crypto advocate, and sees a lot of potential in what the upcoming metaverse projects have to offer. According to an Instagram video, Lil Baby talked about the metaverse, stating:

"I stay in the Metaverse from now on. I don’t even want no more cash."

He did not elaborate much more on that, but it seems that Lil Baby has at least some knowledge of the blockchain industry, and sees the value of digital assets. As of right now, the rapper owns a Mutated Ape Yacht Club collectible avatar which is worth somewhere around $200K.

Knowing that artists are putting their art to work by offering various benefits to owners of their digital assets, like New-York’s rap legend Nas who released his music-based NFT’s with streaming royalties attached to them, it seems that the metaverse could be another way for fans to support their favorite artists.
