DO KWON WANTS HIS AIRDROP BACK
THE AUDACITY. That's the word that may come into your mind after hearing this.
So, apparently, Do Kwon, the same guy who has Interpol after him for all the Terra Luna bloodbath that he caused...
Has decided that he too has the moral right to get angry when someone doesn't return him the money that was supposed to be his. At least according to Do Kwon.
So okay, this Taste of Your Own Medicine episode began last May.
During a Genesis Airdrop that was organized by Terraform Labs, something went not according to plan.
It resulted in an unexpected, and unplanned LUNA tokens airdrop to the community members.
So, the community, being loyal and supportive didn't choose to keep what was not theirs. The majority of members returned what they received. But there was an exception.
Jimmy Le, a hardcore Lunatic who goes under the twitter alias of @stablejim, received 1,347,810.646 $LUNA coins.
They are valued at around $2 Million.
These coins are part of the newer LUNA token on the Terra 2.0 blockchain. It's worth noting that there is another asset, LUNC, which came from a fork in the Terra blockchain and is considered to be more volatile.
And so... Jimmy Le chose not to return. And he doesn't think he's acting against the law.
In fact, he even thinks the law is on his side here. He has the right to keep the pot of gold.
Jimmy Le has even reportedly enlisted a team of tax lawyers to keep the IRS (US Internal Revenue Service) at bay and is said to be in negotiations with Terraform Labs.
He explains his position in great detail in this Twitter thread.
Will he be able to keep his loot or will the company get it back? Only time will tell.
But Do Kwon doesn't want to let this slide.
The former head of Terra, Do Kwon, has started to harass Jimmy by threatening to report him to the FBI and harassing the guy on social media.
Terraform Labs has hired Dentons, a law firm to handle the situation, adding fuel to the fire.
It's pretty odd to see how determined and angry Do Kwon can get.
It's almost ironic, keeping in mind that he himself is hiding in Serbia, trying to evade the law and ditch the responsibility for... not giving back people's money.
Here's a great summary of this absurd theatre by a Twitter user @FatManTerra:
TL;DR: Last May, an accident took place. Due to a malfunction, LUNA community received a surprise airdrop of LUNA tokens. Most of them returned it. One guy chose not to. He kept the 1.3M $LUNA to himself. Do Kwon got angry, began to harass him and demand the money back.
HAL FINNEY'S LEGENDARY 'RUNNING BITCOIN' TWEET TURNS 14
Hal Finney is a colossal figure in the tech world, especially the crypto sphere. It's no coincidence HAL 9000 shares the same name as this Bitcoin Veteran.
So... What's the big deal?
Exactly 14 years ago, on January 11th, 2009, Hal Finney, one of the founding fathers of the Bitcoin ecosystem, launched a cryptocurrency node on his computer.
He announced this on his Twitter page, and the phrase "Running bitcoin" became truly legendary.
Who is Hal Finney?
He is a developer from the US, who can be considered on a par with Satoshi Nakamoto as the founder of Bitcoin.
He was the first to receive a 10 BTC transaction, as well as to launch a network node on his own computer.
Unfortunately, he was also diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) in 2009. Finney passed away from complications caused by the disease in 2014.
For Hal Finney, there is boundless respect in the cryptocurrency community. His tweet received more than 65,000 likes and 28,000 retweets.
In late 2021, Finney's widow announced an annual charity event in his honor, it's called the "RUNNING BITCOIN CHALLENGE".
All donations from patrons go towards finding a cure for ALS.
"His contribution to the cryptocurrency community will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Hal, you will always be remembered as a trailblazer," a Twitter user commented under that very tweet.
The legacy of Hal Finney will always be remembered as a pioneer and visionary in the cryptocurrency community.
His work and dedication will always be appreciated and serve as an inspiration for future innovators. Rest in Power, king!
TL;DR: Today marks the 14 years anniversary of the now-legendary tweet by Hal Finney which says 'running Bitcoin'.
