Google Rolls Out Feature Displaying Ethereum Wallet Balances

Google launched yet another feature to show its support for Ethereum (ETH).

Google, an American multinational technology firm known for its search engine, has launched a new feature displaying Ethereum wallet balances.

According to the tweet shared by the Principal of Google Ventures and former Google engineer Han Hua, the feature became available on October 11th.

By typing any Ethereum address on Google, users can view the wallet’s ETH balance, as can be seen in the example shared by Han Hua.

However, some reports noted that the feature is not yet available to all Ethereum wallets, suggesting that Google is implementing it incrementally.

It is worth noting that details about Ethereum wallets are gathered from Etherscan Ethereum block explorer.

Despite it being Google's attempt to help investors, not everyone was happy with the company. Investor Stephen Cole used Twitter to share his disappointment about Google not launching this feature for Bitcoin (BTC) wallets, stating, "Does Google not know about Bitcoin?"

It is not the first time Google is embedding Ethereum-related features. In September, with less than a week until the highly anticipated Ethereum Merge, Google launched its dedicated countdown. Users were able to find the countdown by typing “the Ethereum Merge” or “the Merge” on Google.

Recently, Google has been collaborating with various crypto firms. In September, Google’s cloud computing platform, dubbed Google Cloud, joined forces with BNB Chain to boost blockchain and Web3 startups. The collaboration aims to provide mentorship, foundational infrastructure, cloud computing credits, and technical support for newly emerging blockchain and Web3 projects.

Moreover, the other day, Google Cloud partnered with crypto exchange Coinbase to allow users to pay for their cloud services using crypto. On top of that, the collaboration will help Coinbase build exchange and data services, process blockchain data, and many more things.
