Gala Music Adds David Bowie's Track "Let's Dance" to Its NFT Collection

Gala Music Adds David Bowie's Track "Let's Dance" to Its NFT Collection

An unreleased version of David Bowie's "Let's Dance" will soon be available as part of a limited edition collection of nonfungible tokens (NFTs).

Gala Music, a controlled platform for hosting, sharing, and listening to music across a distributed community of Player Nodes, has teamed up with music producer Larry Dvoskin and Warner Chappell Music to bring David Bowie's legacy to Web3.

With the collaboration, Gala Music aims to present a never-before-heard version of the legendary artist's 1983 single "Let's Dance" as a limited edition NFT series.

Gala Music used Twitter to unveil the project on April 6th.

The NFT collection is set to launch on April 14th, four decades after the original release of "Let's Dance." Upon the launch, Gala Music plans to issue 3,003 NFTs showcasing Bowie-inspired artwork. Each NFT will grant its owner access to the exclusive version of the song, co-produced by Dvoskin and Bowie in 2002.

Offered on a "pay-what-you-wish" basis, the initial revenue generated from the NFT sales will be donated to MusiCares, a charity dedicated to providing health and human services to individuals within the music industry.

David Bowie had an impressive music career, leaving behind an extensive discography that includes 27 studio albums, 11 live albums, four soundtracks, and 128 singles. Although he passed away in 2016, there remains several previously unheard track from his iconic musical career.

The upcoming NFT release is not the first venture into the realm of blockchain technology for the Bowie estate.

In September 2022, the estate joined forces with OpenSea to launch a collection called "Bowie on the Blockchain" to raise funds for charitable causes. The current floor price of the collection is 0.076 ETH (around $141).
