Officials have not said who made the transfer or whether it helps explain what happened to Guthrie. They have also not confirmed whether it may have been a test payment.

The outlet also stated that another letter arrived on February 11. This new message asked for 1 Bitcoin in exchange for the names of the people behind the incident.

At the same time, investigators released new home-security footage on February 10. The video showed a masked person at Guthrie’s front door. The individual appears to tamper with her Google Nest camera.
