French Woman Held at Gunpoint as Robbers Snatch Crypto USB

A woman in Manosque, France, was held at gunpoint on January 5 after three masked men broke into her home and stole a USB drive containing her partner’s cryptocurrency data.

According to Le Parisien, the break-in occurred at Chemin Champs de Pruniers in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.

The intruders threatened the woman with a handgun, tied her up, and struck her before taking the device and escaping.

The woman was able to free herself a few minutes later and call the police. She was not seriously injured.

The investigation has been handed over to the local criminal investigation department and the regional police directorate, who are now searching for the attackers.

This robbery comes as French authorities continue to examine another case involving a government worker accused of leaking private information to criminals.

In June 2025, a tax official was charged with using internal databases to identify potential victims, including cryptocurrency owners, and passing their personal details to outside groups.

A separate report by Le Parisien stated that the official searched for addresses, income, and family data unrelated to her work duties.

One of those searches allegedly happened before a violent robbery. Judges later ruled that her actions had no connection to her assigned role, which focused only on business taxation.

Recently, Cambodian businessman Chen Zhi was arrested and sent to China for allegedly leading a multi-billion-dollar crypto scam. How did the case unfold? Read the full story.
