Emmanuel Masmejean, a senior surgeon from France, will be facing legal action after listing an NFT with a gunshot x-ray.
There are certainly some strange-looking NFTs on the marketplace. However, one french surgeon took it a step further and put up an x-ray of a gunshot victim from the Bataclan music hall attacks in 2015.
Orthopedic surgeon Emmanuel Masmejean has been working in Southwest Paris at the Georges Pompidou Public Hospital. Just a few days ago, a local news outlet Mediapart reported that the surgeon was selling the x-rays without any permission.

The NFT consisted of a single x-ray with a rifle bullet inside the victim’s arm. According to the report, the picture was listed for $2,776 before it was taken down by the OpenSea marketplace.
It had a very morbid and detailed description which specified that the victim had "an open fracture of the left forearm with a remaining bullet of Kalachnikov in soft tissues."
Reporters managed to get hold of the surgeon that sold the x-ray of the Bataclan music hall attack victim. When asked about his intentions, he said that it was just a mistake, and should’ve gotten permission beforehand.
Martin Hirsch, Head of Public Hospitals in France, posted his statement on the issue on his Twitter account. The representative assured that the surgeon will face legal consequences, and the actions will be treated as criminal activity.
