Amazon has launched Kindle Translate, a new translation feature powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
The tool is built for writers who publish through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and want to share their books with readers in other languages.
Kindle Translate supports translations between English and Spanish, and from German into English. Amazon stated that the feature is still in beta.

Writers can view and manage their translated books through the KDP dashboard. They can check drafts, choose languages, set prices, and publish their translated titles.
The translated versions will appear on Amazon with a "Kindle Translate" label, so readers know the book was translated using AI. Shoppers will also be able to preview samples before buying.
Amazon noted that while authors can review the AI’s work, they may still need help from a human translator if they do not speak the target language.
The company has made Kindle Translate free to use. According to the announcement, Amazon quoted one early tester who said the feature is a "cost-effective and trustworthy solution".
Translated books made with Kindle Translate can be included in Amazon’s existing programs, such as KDP Select and Kindle Unlimited.
