What is Lido stETH?
Lido stETH or Lido Staked Ether is a derivative token representing staked Ether (ETH) on a 1:1 ratio. It’s one of the native tokens of the decentralized finance platform - Lido. The latter serves as a liquid staking protocol. It’s important to note that Lido provides the first-ever liquid staking protocol based on ETH.
When users stake their ETH on Lido, they receive stETH in return. The staking process is powered by the Ethereum Beacon chain. Lido charges a 10% staking fee.
It's important to note that there is no guarantee the stETH price will be higher than its inherent value.
Once Ethereum 2.0 is fully launched, Lido stETH tokens will be able to be redeemed for ETH and burned. Additionally, holders can technically unstake their stETH tokens by simply selling them.
