What is Alitas (ALT)?

Alitas is an underlying data infrastructure that proposes an alternative to the blockchain’s ledger data structure. Alitas uses the Tangle data structure, which was created by IOTA and it’s based on a Directed Acyclic Graph (DAG).

In a blockchain, the data is stored in blocks, which follow a linear and chronological organization. Thus, each block is linked only to the one that came before it. The Tangle system is the opposite, meaning that all of the transactions are interconnected. It’s similar to the DAG, but with the difference that each new transaction in the Tangle is connected to two earlier transactions. In theory, this would allow the structure to be highly scalable.

Furthermore, it aims to replace blockchain's consensus mechanism. The consensus mechanism is the process by which the nodes in the network reach an agreement on the state of the ledger. Within the Alitas ecosystem, the algorithm responsible for the replacement of consensus is called Tolerance Algorithm. Another technical characteristic of Alitas is called The Star Drop. It’s made to randomly introduce nodes to obtain the legitimacy of transactions.

Besides that, in the Alitas system, any user can trade and actively participate in consensus. Moreover, this ecosystem supports GameFi and SocialFi networks, cross-chain protocols via Layer 2 or sidechains, and web3-compatible protocols. Therefore, Alitas can be linked to other blockchain networks and integrated with other technologies, including big data, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and 5G. Besides that, no transaction fees are charged.
