The NFT exhibition will be launched on a well-known metaverse platform dubbed Decentraland.
American-based web services provider Yahoo has stated that it would launch a series of NFT and Metaverse-related activities across Hong Kong. With such an initiative, the company seeks to delve into the utilization of advertising-oriented technologies.
The news comes a few days after Mark Zuckerberg's company dubbed Meta Platforms announced that it would fire up a series of metaverse initiatives for more than 7M Hong Kong citizens. The project will supposedly include various AR workshops and VR-based exhibitions for educators and high-school students.

The tech giant is reportedly planning to hold virtual concerts and events on a well-known 3D virtual world metaverse-based platform dubbed Decentraland. On top of that, the company will roll out a limited amount of NFTs.
The senior director of client services and operations at Yahoo Lorraine Cheung believes that Metaverse provides a perfect opportunity for Hong Kong’s residents to delve into various activities amid current COVID-19 limitations imposed by the government.
On top of that, according to Cheung, such technology is a good way for people to interact with each other at any given time or location and remain safe at the same time. She added:
“Yahoo Hong Kong has always been providing a wide range of online services that are relevant to people’s daily lives, including using the latest technology to improve and enhance the user experience.”
As stated in the official statement, the company will fire up a non-fungible token (NFT) exhibition dubbed The Abyss of Kwun Tong in partnership with various creators. The NFT supposedly represents the significantly affected iconic Hong Kong’s Kwun Tong neighborhood by redevelopments.
Leung Ching-husan, one of the local creators, implied that The Abyss of Kwun Tong aims to encourage people to use such innovative technologies more and more in the near future.
Roger Li, senior director of ad creative at Yahoo Creative Studios, shared some interesting statistics. For instance, around 86% of individuals between the ages of 20-30 want their experiences in the digital world to be coherent with the actual world, whereas more than 80% are already part of the immersive experience.
