Todai to Offer Educational Programs in the Metaverse

Todai to Offer Educational Programs in the Metaverse

Anyone, "regardless of age, gender, social standing," will have the opportunity to participate in education courses in order to receive theoretical and practical experience in engineering and information science.

Todai, also called the University of Tokyo, has recently revealed its plans to roll out a series of educational programs aimed at a broader audience and taking place in the metaverse.

According to the official announcement issued on July 23rd, the main aim of the project is to educate people about the lack of skilled personnel that is capable of working in the field of digital transformation.

The metaverse studies, operating under Todai’s faculty of Engineering, will be accessible to a wide range of students, ranging from those still in high school to adult learners who are already working. As part of the project, students will be able to up their game through various online courses focused on AI, entrepreneurial education, and next-generation communication technology, as well as receive some practical experience in product development.

On top of that, during the metaverse-driven study programs, students will be able to get some tips on professional development in engineering and information science fields. Students who complete the study course will also receive official certificates, the official report read.

Furthermore, the initiative will focus more on female students who are still not properly displayed in university engineering programs. Likewise, the project will ensure that “anyone, regardless of age, gender, social standing, and area of residence” will be able to receive education about engineering and information science.

It seems as though Japan-based players in the crypto world are keen on exploring the possibilities of metaverse technology. For instance, earlier today, JACFA, a support group from Fukuoka, rolled out a virtual support room.

In fact, Todai isn’t the only university to roll out metaverse and education-based initiatives, as back in May, the University of São Paulo (USP) announced that it would be delving into the metaverse to analyze the effectiveness of VR and AR devices, including other significant fields.
