Opera and Tether have joined forces to bring stable digital money to more people through the MiniPay wallet.

The update adds support for USDT USDT $0.9986 and Tether Gold on MiniPay, a self-managed wallet that runs on the Celo blockchain.

Tether said the goal is to make it easier for people in Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia to hold and use digital dollars for daily payments or savings. The company believes this can help those who face unstable local currencies or limited access to banking.

MiniPay is available on Android and iOS and only needs a phone number to get started. The wallet now operates in 60 countries, with over 12 million active users and 350 million transactions processed.

It grew by 50% in the last quarter of the year, mostly in developing markets. In December, users sent and received more than $153 million through MiniPay.

Alongside USDT, the wallet also lets users hold XAUT XAUT $4,937.39 , Tether’s gold-backed token. The company promotes it as a tool for saving value over time, especially where inflation is high.
