Solana Survives 6 Tbps Cyber Assault, Network Remains Unshaken

The Solana SOL $138.62 network recently faced a large distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) incident.

On December 9, Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko shared on X that a 6 Tbps DDoS attack was targeting the network.

The same day, Solana Labs president Raj Gokal mentioned that the issue was still ongoing.

David Rhodus, head of the Solana-based project Pipe Network, described the activity as }industrial-scale". In a separate post on X, Pipe Network said the event was among the largest DDoS attacks ever recorded.

A DDoS attack works by sending large amounts of data from many sources to a single target, making it hard for that target to respond or stay online. A chart shared by Pipe Network ranked this attack fourth-largest on record.

However, some larger attacks occurred in 2025. Cloudflare reported one reaching nearly 30 Tbps, KrebsOnSecurity mentioned a 6.3 Tbps incident, and Gcore also logged a six Tbps case.

Despite the size of the attack, Solana’s systems seemed stable. Yakovenko called the situation "bullish" by noting that “someone is spending as much as the chain makes in revenue to send it".

Pipe Network also stated that such pressure often leads to slow responses or delays in confirming transactions, yet Solana’s network continued to run normally.
