Scroll's zkEVM technology aims to substantially lower transaction costs while bolstering transaction throughput for decentralized applications on the Ethereum blockchain. This is achieved by aggregating thousands of transactions off-chain and then sending a concise proof to Ethereum's mainnet, summarizing the data.
Interestingly, Scroll had been quiet about its mainnet being operational since October 8th, the date the first smart contract was initialized on the platform.
The mainnet launch resulted from 15 months of meticulous testing and rigorous security evaluations.
Scroll co-founder Ye Zhang recently outlined plans for the project. He indicated that while the platform will initially feature centralized elements, a strategy is in place to transition to decentralization.
