MegaETH Sets February 9 Launch After Breaking 35,000 TPS Barrier
Key Takeaways
- MegaETH plans to launch its Ethereum Layer-2 mainnet on February 9, following a successful week-long stress test;
- The network reached speeds of about 35,000 transactions per second while maintaining smooth app performance;
- Over seven days, MegaETH processed 10.7 billion transactions, more than Ethereum handled in nearly 11 years.
The decision follows a week-long “global stress test” that checked how the network performs under heavy use.
During the test, MegaETH reached about 35,000 transactions per second. Co-founder and CTO Lei Yang wrote on X, "Get ready for the fastest EVM chain ever".

What is Crypto Arbitrage? (Risks & Tips Explained With Animation)
Developers invited a small group of users to try applications that require low latency while the team tested the system’s limits in the background. The goal was to confirm that apps would still run smoothly, even when the network was under pressure.
Over seven days, MegaETH handled around 10.7 billion transactions. Most of this traffic came from Web3 games such as Smasher, Crossy Fluffle, and Stomp.gg.
One of the participants, Simon Dedic, founder and managing partner at Moonrock Capital, said his experience using the apps was problem-free. He stated:
No latency. No congestion. No degraded UX like you get on almost every other chain. Just apps that work, smoothly, in real time.
Dedic also said it processed more transactions in a few days than Ethereum did in almost 11 years.
