The Ethereum Foundation has launched a new group to explore how artificial intelligence (AI) can work alongside blockchain technology.
This team will focus on developing tools and systems that enable AI to operate securely and transparently within the Ethereum
According to researcher Davide Crapis, who is helping lead the effort, the group’s mission includes two main goals: to create a framework that supports AI-based applications on Ethereum and to make development tools that others can use to build similar systems.

Crapis shared in a post on X on September 15:
Ethereum makes AI more trustworthy, and AI makes Ethereum more useful. The more intelligent agents transact, the more they need a neutral base layer for value and reputation.
He added, "Ethereum benefits by becoming that layer, and AI benefits by escaping lock-in to a few centralized platforms".
The Ethereum Foundation is seeking an individual with experience in AI research, as well as a project manager to help maintain the organization. The new group is being referred to as "dAI" within the Ethereum Foundation.
Part of the team’s work will involve expanding a proposal called ERC-8004. This proposal, written by Crapis and two colleagues, introduces a system that enables AI-powered software to interact safely and reliably with others on the Ethereum network.
Recently, Justin Drake, a researcher at the Ethereum Foundation, introduced a proposal called "Lean Ethereum". What does it include? Read the full story.
