He stated that X Chat will not include features that analyze user messages for ad targeting. Musk pointed to WhatsApp as an example of a service that personalizes ads based on message content.
He warned that this approach could pose risks, as it could allow third parties to access sensitive information if the system is compromised.
Although Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, stated that the Signal Protocol protects its messages, it also acknowledges that some data, such as metadata, is not encrypted. Additionally, chat backups are not automatically secured unless users enable encryption.
Musk emphasized that X Chat is designed without such data-sharing systems. He said the app will let users exchange messages, make voice and video calls, and send files within a fully encrypted setup.
