Director Liman described the film as a classic underdog tale. He told Variety that the plot centers on unlikely characters challenging powerful interests, with the conflict centered around the meaning of money and control.
Ryan Kavanaugh, former CEO of Relativity Media, is one of the producers. Kavanaugh had looked into crypto-related film funding ideas in the past, including a token called Proxicoin.
