With the growth of the cryptocurrency market worldwide, crypto technology has attracted widespread attention not only from investors and businesses, but also governmental agencies, as well. One of such agencies is the CIA.
The current director of the CIA - William Burns - attended the Wall Street Journal CEO Council Summit this Monday. When asked about crypto, Burns pointed out the fact that the agency is looking into the technology behind crypto, and has a few different projects centered around the topic.
Burns also emphasized that it’s crucial for the CIA to understand crypto and its impact on the country and the world, and to work with industry experts in order to be able to solve various issues that may arise within the US, in relation to cryptocurrencies.

The director of the CIA also pointed out the fact that his predecessor had started working on crypto projects, and that he himself is now continuing the work. Burns also emphasized that crypto technology is one of the bigger priorities for the CIA, especially in regards to topics such as cybersecurity and criminal groups working to use crypto and blockchain tech for their own, malicious intents.
