Solana Mobile, the phone-making division of Solana Labs, is preparing to launch its second crypto-focused smartphone, the Seeker, in 2025.
The announcement was made during the Token 2049 conference, where Solana Mobile emphasized that the Seeker will deliver significant hardware and crypto-specific improvements over its predecessor, the Saga.
The Seeker will boast a lighter design, a longer-lasting battery, and an enhanced camera compared to the Saga, according to Emmet Hollyer, head of Solana Labs' mobile phone project. He also mentioned that the Seeker will include a crypto wallet linked to the device's Seed Vault, providing more seamless self-custody.

A key highlight of the Seeker is its improved dApp store, providing developers with a cost-effective platform to launch crypto applications without the typical high fees of other app stores. The new dApp store will offer improved app discoverability and simplified token rewards tracking, making it more user-friendly for both developers and users.
Another feature that sets Seeker apart is its more flexible approach to third-party apps. Unlike most smartphones, which limit access to internal data like GPS and cellular usage for privacy reasons, Seeker will allow third-party applications to use this "digital exhaust." This move is designed to benefit crypto projects, particularly those building decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN). Hollyer remarked:
We think that those are going to be unbelievable opportunities for our users to earn, engage, and interact.
The Saga, Solana Mobile's first crypto phone, struggled with sales initially, but interest was revived when crypto traders began purchasing the phone to access token airdrops that were more valuable than the device itself.
With its improved hardware, expanded crypto functionalities, and a more developer-friendly app ecosystem, Seeker looks to push Solana further into the crypto mobile space.
