Enter this Gemini Credit Card review, where I'll explain how to generate passive crypto gains simply by doing your shopping!
Gemini Credit Card is a service launched in 2022 by a popular crypto exchange of the same name. In most ways, it works just like a regular credit card, but with one distinguishing perk: it gives you a 1-4% cashback for every eligible purchase you make.
When it comes to the idea of crypto credit/debit cards, Gemini isn’t the only major player to bring it to life: other A-list exchanges like Bybit and KuCoin have launched their versions, as well. But which of them comes out on top? Read and find out!
Verdict at a Glance:
Gemini Credit Card allows users to earn 1-4% cashback on their purchases and can be used in any stores that accept Mastercard. It’s a seamless and convenient way to integrate crypto into your daily life. The main drawback is geographical restrictions: this card is only available for US residents (from all 50 states in the US and Puerto Rico, though).
Pros

- No annual, foreign transaction, or exchange fees
- Instant rewards in 50+ cryptos

Table: A quick overview of Gemini Credit Card
As you’ll see, this card functions a lot like a regular credit card in every other respect. It’s also closely tied to the Gemini exchange and shares some of the same features, such as the list of supported coins and customer support options.
Who’s Gemini Card For?
If you’ve never used a crypto credit/debit card before, you’re probably curious as to why you’d want or need one in the first place. Here are the key target demographics that might benefit from introducing the Gemini Credit Card into their lives:
- Credit Card Holders. Unlike some of the other options I’ll discuss later in this review, Gemini Credit Card is, as the name suggests, a credit card, so it might attract the same users who are already in the market for a regular credit card.
- Gemini Exchange Users. If the above-mentioned point applies to you and you also happen to be a Gemini exchange user, getting this card is a no-brainer: the rewards will trickle right into your exchange account, with no need to claim them manually.
- Crypto Beginners. If you’re curious to integrate crypto into your life, but feel apprehensive about the risky realities of crypto trading, Gemini Credit Card is an excellent entry point into the crypto scene for those who'd rather invest than trade.
- Frequent Travellers. This card has no foreign transaction fees, so you can use it abroad in place of your regular credit or debit card.
- Reward Hunters. One of the main Gemini Credit Card benefits is its cashback rewards, which make it perfect for crypto enthusiasts who want to increase their passive income.
- American Residents. Unfortunately, this product isn’t available outside the US, but if that's where you live, Gemini Credit Card is accepted by any store or vendor that accepts Mastercard.
In a nutshell, Gemini Credit Card bridges the gap between the crypto sphere and everyday finances, letting you make the most out of your assets while earning generous rewards in return.

Did you know?
All Crypto Exchanges may look similar to you but they're NOT all the same!
Advantages
I already gave you a sneak peek at some of the perks – now let me kick off this Gemini Credit Card review by expanding on its key benefits:
- Up to 4% crypto cashback;
- Instant rewards;
- Mastercard benefits;
- No annual card fees or transaction fees;
- Security-focused design.
Let’s start with the most compelling one of the Gemini Credit Card benefits. Every purchase you make gives you back 1-4% of the amount you spent in a cryptocurrency of your choice. The percentage depends on the category, with gas and transport-related services having the highest cashback.
What’s more, you can take advantage of some exclusive offers by Mastercard with select merchants and access to the Priceless Experience program.
Another important thing is that, unlike with most other credit cards, these rewards are instant. You won’t have to wait until you pay back your card balance – you’ll get to enjoy seeing that extra crypto drop into your account immediately! That said, there are some caveats I’ll cover later.
I imagine many readers who’ve never had a credit card before might get turned off by the idea of annual fees or other expenses associated with this type of card, so let me get this out of the way first: Gemini Credit card has no additional fees. There’s no annual fee or foreign transaction fees.
Last but certainly not least, this card has a discreet design that prioritizes privacy and security. The physical card only has the cardholder’s name on it; you won’t find any other sensitive information that’s usually engraved on credit and debit cards, such as the 16-digit card number.
Limitations
That was quite a solid package of benefits – but, as we all know, no product is without flaws, so let me flip the scoreboard and shed some light on the drawbacks. These are the areas where I found Gemini Credit Card to be somewhat lacking:
- Only available for US residents;
- Fluctuating reward values.
Users from other countries will be disappointed to find out that this card is only available in the US. As of writing this, the company hasn’t mentioned any plans to take this product worldwide. Luckily, there are other alternatives that have a much broader regional coverage (I’ll get to that later in this Gemini Credit Card review).
The other drawback isn’t, strictly speaking, Gemini’s fault, but I'm still going to bring it up for the sake of clarity. As the rewards are crypto-based, their value inevitably fluctuates in line with the value of the crypto you set as your primary asset for rewards. The good news is that you can switch to another cryptocurrency at any time to exploit those fluctuations to your advantage.
Cashback Rewards
And now it’s time to delve into the main selling point of the Gemini Credit Card! Every qualifying purchase you make with this card will give you a percentage of the sum back, depending on the category of purchase. Those categories are determined by Merchant Category Codes (MCCs) provided by the merchant's acquiring bank or payment processor.
Here’s how much cashback you can expect to earn:
Cashback | Category | What’s Included |
---|---|---|
4% | Gas, EV charging, transit, taxis, and ridesharing | Gas at the pump and electric vehicle charging stations |
3% | Dining | Traditional restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and fast food establishments |
2% | Groceries | Traditional grocery stores and specialty food stores (wholesale clubs, such as Costco and Sam's Club, as well as candy stores and bakeries, are excluded) |
1% | All other qualifying purchase transactions | Merchants that do not categorize themselves under an MCC code that are associated with gas, EV, dining or groceries will earn 1% back |
Table: Gemini Credit Card cashback rewards
Certain transactions are not eligible for Gemini Credit Card rewards, including transactions to obtain gift cards, prepaid debit cards, traveler’s checks, precious metals, casino chips, lottery tickets or other cash equivalents. In addition, while this might seem a bit ironic, you can’t use this card to buy cryptocurrency, even on the Gemini exchange itself.
All qualifying purchases under the 4% category earn 4% on up to $300 per month. Once this cap is reached, the cashback rate goes down to 1%.
The rewards are calculated by the USD price of your purchase, rounded up to the nearest cent, and converted to your choice of cryptocurrency at the market price when the reward is triggered.
You can select the asset during the application and change it later if you want, choosing between 70+ cryptocurrencies (the same ones available on the Gemini exchange), such as BTC, ETH, SOL, and USDC. These rewards are then deposited into your Gemini exchange account.
And the Gemini Credit Card benefits don’t end there! The holders of this card are also eligible for various Mastercard perks:
- Exclusive deals and offers from popular merchants like Lyft, Instacart, Peacock, and Resortpass;
- Special vacation offers through Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services;
- Access to Mastercard’s Priceless platforms.
In other words, you’ll get to enjoy the combo of Gemini Credit Card rewards and the benefits of being a Mastercard credit card holder – two birds with one stone!
Bonuses & Promotional Campaigns
Speaking of benefits, there’s something else I should cover in this Gemini Credit Card review. Most crypto exchanges offer various welcome bonuses and other promotional campaigns to entice both new and existing users, and Gemini is no exception.
If you get your Gemini card before June 30, 2025, and spend at least $3,000 on purchases within the first 90 days, you’ll be rewarded with a $200 bonus. Those transactions can be made either by the primary cardholder or by other authorized users of that card.
Just like with cashback rewards, this bonus will be deposited into your exchange account in the form of your selected crypto, although it might take up to 8 weeks after the 90-day period is over.
Another campaign running parallel to this one is the Gemini Cybertruck Sweepstakes. From May 19 to June 18, 2025, every $50 you spend on your Gemini Credit Card earns you one entry ticket for this contest (the maximum limit is 10,000 entries per card). After the deadline, Gemini will select two random winners, each of whom will receive:
- One Tesla Cybertruck “Cyberbeast” edition;
- A cash payment to help offset taxes;
- A $2,000 travel stipend for transportation and lodging to pick up the vehicle.
Trading activity on the Gemini exchange is included, too. You’ll earn one entry for every $50 in crypto trading volume, with the same 10,000 entry limit per account (Gemini Credit Card purchases and trading activity stack up, making you eligible for up to 20,000 entries in total).
You can check your total number of entries by logging into your account through the Gemini mobile app or website. The entry count will be displayed on the homepage and the Gemini Credit Card screen during the Sweepstakes Period.
If you're reading this after these events have passed, check out the official Gemini website for any new promotional campaigns.

User Experience
Gemini Credit Card is tied to your Gemini exchange account, which is where you can manage everything related to it. All you need to do is log into your Gemini account and click on the card tab at the top of the page. You’ll get redirected to the Gemini Credit Card dashboard, where you can check your card’s 16-digit account number, security code, and expiration date.
The rewards are transferred to your account automatically – you can see them both in your card’s dashboard and your asset portfolio.
There’s no lock-up period, either: those rewards are accessible immediately, and you’re free to convert or trade them to another cryptocurrency, withdraw them into a non-custodial third-party wallet (such as Binance Wallet, Ledger, or Trezor), or sell them for fiat.
Oh, and did I mention the rewards are instant? In contrast to most regular credit cards, you won’t have to wait until the end of the billing cycle to reap that sweet cashback. It will be transferred to your account at the time of purchase.
Not all purchases will activate instant rewards. In some cases, there’s a pre-authorization hold, which means the rewards will be transferred as soon as the money goes through.
Gemini Credit Card comes in 3 different colors: black, silver, and rose gold. The cards themselves are made from 75% recycled stainless steel and work for contactless payments, too.
In addition to the physical card, you’ll also get a virtual card, which can be used for online payments through Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay.
When the time comes to pay your card balance, log into your account, go to the Credit Card Dashboard, and click [Make a payment]. You can pay with a linked checking or savings account.
Unfortunately, as of writing this, there's no option to pay your card's balance with cryptocurrency, only with fiat.
Like most of its regular counterparts, Gemini Credit Card supports adding multiple authorized users. However, for the sake of privacy and security, each of them can only view their own transactions and the rewards earned from them. Only the primary cardholder can access the complete data of their card’s transactions and rewards.
Fees & Limits
One of the Gemini crypto credit card benefits lauded by most other user reviews is the lack of fees. This card won’t saddle you with any annual payments, foreign transaction fees, or other pesky expenses you’ll have to account for! The only payment you’ll be concerned with is paying off your balance, just like you'd have to do with any other credit card.[1]
The Gemini Credit Card limit is between $2,500 and $25,000 per day. The exact limit will depend on your creditworthiness, that is, factors like your credit score, income, and employment history.[2] As of writing this, the company has stated that they don’t accept requests for a credit increase, but some Gemini Credit Card reviewers mentioned that they’ve managed to get their request granted.
Requesting a decrease is a different story, though – you can easily do that by submitting a request through your account, making a phone call, or emailing customer support.
Security & Customer Support
When it comes to credit cards, security is of paramount importance. So, let's tackle the million-dollar question: is Gemini Credit Card safe?
Coming back to one of the immediately visible advantages I mentioned earlier, this card features a privacy-focused design. The only information engraved on it is the cardholder’s name. Any other sensitive information, such as the card number, expiration date, and CVV code, can only be viewed on the holder’s account.
In addition, the Gemini crypto credit card is equipped with several advanced security features, including Mastercard ID Theft Protection, Zero Liability, and Price Protection.
And if worst comes to worst and you get your card stolen (or otherwise lose or damage it), all you have to do is contact customer support through phone, email, or by submitting a request, and you’ll be sent a replacement.
If you suspect fraud, you can lock your card on your Gemini account, report any transactions you don’t recognize, and request a dispute (the investigation might take up to 2 billing cycles, or up to 90 days at most).
How to Get a Gemini Credit Card
Let’s say reading my Gemini Credit Card review convinced you to give it a shot. How should you go about it?
The good news is that it’s not too complicated. Eligibility-wise, the Gemini Credit Card requirements aren’t too different from most other credit cards. In this case, you’ll need to fulfill the following criteria:
- US Residency. You must be a legal resident of one of the 50 US states or Washington, D.C. The card is not available outside the United States.
- Age. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Gemini Exchange Account. If you don’t have one yet, you can create it either before or after sending the application (you’ll also need to pass KYC verification).
- Creditworthiness. Approval is subject to a credit check. Factors like credit score, income, and existing debt obligations will be considered.
- Identity Verification. You must verify your identity by providing a valid government-issued ID, such as a driver's license, passport, or state ID.
- Income Verification. While optional, sharing your income data via Plaid can help determine a higher credit limit.
If you meet these requirements, go to the Gemini website and find the application form for Gemini Credit Card. You’ll be asked to provide some of the above-mentioned information, including your employment status, income, and credit history.
If you’re approved, your new card should arrive in the mail within 5-7 days. Once it does, activate your card by logging into your Gemini account, navigating to card settings, and clicking [Activate your card and set cash advance PIN].
Sadly, activation isn’t supported on the Gemini mobile app. You’ll have to do this on the web app.

Now that I’m through with this deep dive, you should have a pretty solid idea of what to expect from this product. But, as I mentioned earlier, it’s not the only fish in the pond! It’s time to spice up this Gemini Credit Card review with a comparison to other popular alternatives.

Table: A quick overview of Gemini Credit Card alternatives
Unlike the Gemini Credit Card, all three of these cards function as debit cards. They support one or more fiat currencies, a number of cryptocurrencies, and give a certain amount of cashback for every purchase. But that's where the similarities end! Let’s see what they bring to the table.

Bybit Card
Bybit Card easily takes the number one spot in this section of my Gemini Credit Card review. For one thing, it delivers higher cashback rewards than any other card on the menu – up to 10%, which is more than twice the rate of the star of this review. That said, you’ll need to fund your wallet with at least $100 to be eligible for the maximum cashback, and the rewards are capped at $150 for new users and 75% for existing ones.
Instead of crypto rewards, you can choose to earn points instead: spending 1 USD/EUR equals 1 point. A minimum of 50 points is needed for redemption, and if you enable Auto Cashback, they’ll automatically be converted to USDT (1 point = 0.002 USDT). VIP users get some extra perks, such as a 100% rebate on selected partners (a surprisingly attractive list that includes major companies like Netflix, Spotify, Amazon Prime, and ChatGPT).
Bybit Card comes as either a Mastercard or a Visa card, depending on your choice. It’s compatible with most popular payment providers like Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay, on par with the Gemini Credit Card. Part of what makes it so convenient is that you won’t have to top it up separately – it draws funds directly from your Bybit account! You can also use it like a regular debit card and withdraw money from an ATM.
This card has no annual fees or inactivity fees, but you’ll have to pay for a physical card (the virtual card is free). There’s a 1% foreign exchange fee, a 0.9% crypto conversion fee (on top of Spot trading fees), and a 2% ATM withdrawal fee once you hit the monthly $100 cap. Bybit Card is available in most EEA countries, as well as Switzerland, Australia, Argentina, and Brazil, making it a great alternative for non-American users.

Coinbase Card
Another A-list crypto exchange, Coinbase, has been keeping up with its fellow industry leaders and expanding its ecosystem into a number of other products and services. Its Coinbase Card allows holders to spend both fiat currency (USD) and 8 cryptocurrencies. You’ll get 1% to 4% cashback, depending on your chosen asset (you can change the asset anytime, just like with Gemini Credit Card).
Unlike Bybit card, which draws funds from your exchange account, Coinbase card is linked with your bank account. The card automatically converts your crypto into fiat currency at the point of payment. This is, hands down, the best card for empowering your crypto assets to serve you “in real life” without the hassle of manual conversion.
Here’s another bit of good news: Coinbase Card doesn’t charge any transaction fees. You can have the physical card delivered for free, as well. However, there’s a fee for ATM withdrawals, and a daily spending limit of $2,500 (which is on par with the floor of the Gemini Credit Card limit, but 2 times lower than Bybit Card, and not even close to the generous KuCard limit).
Those residing outside the US won’t be happy about another major limitation: just like Gemini Credit Card, this one is only available to US residents (with the exception of Hawaii). In line with these geographical restrictions, it only supports USD as fiat currency.

KuCard
When researching the best alternatives for Gemini Credit Card, KuCard stuck out as another compelling pick. Even though it offers considerably lower cashback than the other three cards (only up to 1%), it supports a much larger range of cryptocurrencies – 54 in total, including the most popular assets like BTC, ETH, USDT, and XRP. Other types of rewards include discounts at partner stores.
Just like Coinbase Card, this one connects to your main exchange account and draws funds directly from it, instantly converting them to fiat whenever you’re using it to pay for something. You can get a physical KuCard or use the virtual one with digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay.
When it comes to fees, however, KuCard doesn’t come out looking the best, at least not compared with any other alternatives in this Gemini Credit Card review (or the subject of this review, for that matter). You’ll have to pay €9.99 for a physical card (or a replacement if you need one) or €30 for express delivery. In addition, there’s a €10 annual fee, a €2 fee for ATM withdrawals within Europe, and a 2% fee for non-EUR transactions or international ATM withdrawals.
KuCard is available in all EEA countries and only supports EUR as fiat currency. You can use it abroad, too, but the additional fees for foreign transactions and withdrawals would probably deter many users from making it their daily driver while on vacation.
Conclusions
In today’s world, your crypto assets no longer have to be restricted to your crypto exchange or wallet – there are plenty of options to integrate them with your everyday shopping habits! In my Gemini Credit Card review, I presented one such solution that lets you earn crypto cashback rewards by using this card as your regular credit card.
Gemini Credit Card offers an easy way to generate some passive income, transferring your earned cashback directly to your Gemini exchange account. There are no extra fees to account for, and users can sometimes take advantage of special bonus campaigns.
Unfortunately, the Gemini Credit Card requirements limit its availability to only US residents. If you live in the EEA, I recommend international alternatives like Bybit Card or KuCard.
