In the announcement, Sotheby’s revealed that the manuscript will be auctioned in Lot 2 of the series on February 27th. The 1992 manuscript contains original “corrections and notations” made by Nail Stephenson in blue ink. On top of that, the pages are wrapped in original “Xerox 4200 Paper” and masking tape.

The "Snow Crash" manuscript is not the only item that will be auctioned during Sotheby’s “Infocalpyse Unique Generative Edition.” The company is set to auction "Snow Crash's" typed manuscript in Lot 4 of the series. The document contains “extensive autograph notations, revisions, and substantive changes” written by Nail Stephenson in various inks and pencil.

During the auction, Sotheby’s will also sell six physical and six digital items connected to the "Snow Crash." The physical items sold during the auction will include a sword created by Wētā Workshop, “the original painting used as the cover art for the 1993 mass-market paperback edition” of the book, and slides used for the original graphic concept of the novel. On top of that, Sotheby’s will auction a black leather jacket, which was meant to be worn during a video promotion of the book.

The digital items will include graphics novel concept-inspired non-fungible token (NFT) collection.

Based on the Washington Post, Nail Stephenson sold over 1 million copies of "Snow Crash" in North America alone. The book has been read by big tech industry players like Google co-founder Sergey Brin who said that with the book, Stephenson “anticipated what’s going to happen.”
