The National Geographic Genesis NFT collection captures 16 sunrises from various places, including Mountain Everest, Australian beaches and coastal Oregon. It is worth noting that one of the artists, Aaron Huey captured the sunrise in Metaverse.

The non-fungible tokens were launched on the Polygon blockchain, with each image having 118 duplicates. The “GM: Daybreak Around the World” collection contains 1888 NFTs.

In the description, National Geographic notes that the collection signifies its commitment to continue spreading inspirational stories through photography.

The Collection signifies that in the next 135 years Nat Geo will push the boundaries of innovative storytelling further, promote access and inclusivity, uplift our creators and photography as a powerful medium to tell impactful stories.

The National Geographic NFT collection launched on January 17th with a mint price of 215 MATIC (around $217). Customers can purchase NFTs using debit or credit cards as well as their MetaMask or Coinbase Wallets. At the time of writing, 270 NFTs were purchased.

According to Twitter users, the drop of the National Geographic NFT collection was not very successful. One user, dubbed torpedo, claimed that they were trying to mint NFTs for 6 hours with no success. Other users claim that the collection is a waste of time and money.
